Restorative Yoga Workshop led byTamar Samir with live music by Kelly Britton
Saturday, April 24, 2010 | 4:00pm-6:00pm | $25
Relax and reenergize with deep, supported restorative poses, calming breath practices and lulling, live acoustic guitar music. Restorative poses soothe and relax the body, by calming the nervous system and creating an opportunity for deep, passive muscular stretching. Restorative yoga is a wonderful complement to a daily vinyasa yoga practice, creating ease and peace in body and mind.
Tamar Samir
Tamar is proud to be part of the community of teachers and practitioners at Prema Yoga Brooklyn. Tamar is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher with over 800 hours of training. In her classes, Tamar aims to pass on the teachings she has received through practical insights, compassion and humor.
Kelly Britton
As an artist, Kelly has a lot of stories to tell. She has lived in squats, dined with Kennedys, and has given birth to two children at home without drugs or doctors. She has been rescued from a fire, jumped by skinheads, had a strange man break into her house to steal her underwear and worked on an internet start-up with Keith Richards (a good time was had by all!). She has written hundreds of songs and two novels. For several years, Kelly sang in the Gospel choir at St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery. Kelly has played her original material at various East Village and Williamsburg venues including CBGB's, the C-note and Black Betty. She is also an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and taught for several years on the regular schedule at the Jivamukti Yoga School in New York City. Kelly’s most recent release, Refuge, breaks new ground. Yoga Journal, the yoga lifestyle bible, describes Kelly’s voice as “agile, luscious, and full of emotion”. The album resonates with music fans and critics across multiple music genres - from rock, to punk, to soul and gospel. And the universal messages of hope, inspiration, and peace that are woven throughout the lyrics, are timely and relevant. |
